I am surprised that no one has mentioned the 1935 film, Goin' to Town,
starring Mae West.  Not only does Ms. West GO to the opera--she SINGS in the
opera, namely Samson et Dalila, and specifically the aria "Mon coeur s'ouvre a
ta voix" (with the occasional "excuse me, boys" to the cast).  It is an
experience quite unlike even Mr. Bolton's renditions of current favorites.
