First of all, I agree that this shutting down of careers due to allegations or accusations
without proof is a bad thing.

About Harvey Weinstein - he has been considered past his prime as a producer for years
now. He hadn't had a hit in years. When he was producing money-making hits, he could
assault all the young actresses he wanted to. Harvey and his brother Bob supposedly have
been at odds for years now. A year or more ago, their beloved aged mother died. Bob
wants to sell the ailing company and its valuable assets for millions and retire. Harvey
wants to keep the power and stay a player. Without their mamma around to disapprove
Bob can take the gloves off and take down older brother and the TWC board is behind him.
So after decades of looking the other way, Harvey suddenly is a rapist and depraved
monster and everyone knows about it. The board fires him from his own company.

In February 2018, the Weinstein Company declares bankruptcy. In July 2018, its assets are
sold to the Dallas-based equity firm Lantern Capital Partners for $289 million.

So the #MeToo was used to get rid of a nasty power broker who past his prime and whose
own company and brother wanted him out of the business. This whole scandal was
motivated by money and power, not moral outrage and protecting women's rights.

In the case of Daniels - there are charges of aggravated rape against him. The young
singer in Houston 7 or 8 years ago claims that Daniels and his husband drugged him and
sodomized him without protection leaving him bleeding from the rectum. He also forced a
sleep medication on one of his University students before forcing sexual acts with him just a
year or more ago. These are serious charges - not hanky panky between consenting adults
who happen to be teacher and adult student - it is rape and assault. You don't have be a
delicate flower or pearl clutcher or overly politically correct prude to be appalled by the
violation and abuse of another human being.

Daniels may be innocent and since I have loved him as a performer, I hope they are. But
these incidents have made public among a lot of industry insiders that Daniels is known as a
predator and there was joking when he took the position as professor that he would
probably be hitting on his students. The inappropriate texts and screen grabs between
Daniels and his students have been shared with the police. So this isn't all hearsay and
unsubstantiated.

However the other important thing, like Weinstein, is the uncontrovertible fact that Daniels
is past his prime. He sounded very washed out and stressed in "The Enchanted Island" at
the Met over fives years ago. Frankly, casting him in "Orlando" is lazy and passť on the
part of their casting director. There is a huge number of striking new countertenors most of
whom we have not heard in the U.S. or in New York City. Max Emanuel Cencic, Philippe
Jaroussky, Franco Fagioli, Xavier Sabata, Valer Sabadus and many others. There are two
fast rising up and comers now - Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen and Jakub Jozef Orlinski who are
both young and attractive who would do great in the role of Medoro. There is a younger
generation coming in and SFO is right to give this opportunity to one of them.
