Yes Paulo, Les and Tom. Lanza was a sad case.  He never cared to put the 
energy into becoming a serious Met star.  He found his niche and was a 
I truly believe he had an inferiority complex and fear of not being able to 
cut the mustard at the grandiose Met when he turned down Bing's offer.  

He was a true diamond in the rough with exceptional articulation and an 
absolutely gorgeous tenor sound like no other who needed some tweeking 
here and there.

Good for him and his exciting, short alcohol filled life!  

Sad for us who could have delighted in having a classy, disciplined singer 
with a passion for learning at the Met.
