Those among us who remember the Old Met will probably
remember that there were occasional Sunday performances
including Joan Sutherland's spectacular house debut as Lucia di
Lammermoor on the evening of 26 Nov 1961.

Back, starting way before my time, Sunday Night Concerts
were so famous and so regular a part of the Met's schedule
that a 2 CD set was released by the Guild in 1987, containing
music performed by a roster among the Met's most celebrated
singers. The set was called "Sunday Night Concert at the Met".
It should be noted that, though every recording was of music
sung by these artists at Met concerts, not all were on Sunday

The New Met has also seen occasional performances on Sundays
including an afternoon recital with Margaret Price about 30 years
ago. James Levine was the piano accompanist.
