I don't think that "sweetie" would be the right word, but I read in more
than one source that Bruno Walter had a great rapport with all the
orchestras he conducted. By all accounts a mild-mannered and kind person,
he treated them with respect as colleagues and they not only admired his
great musicianship, but genuinely loved him back.
