Just "a few" (!)

A. Scarlatti: ENDIMIONE E CINTIAJ. S. Bach: innumerable cantata arias and duets; Easter oratorio
Handel: ALEXANDER'S FEAST; Ode for St. Cecilia's Day, MESSIAH; Silete venti
Haydn: Der Schoepfung/The CreationPergolesi: Stabat Mater
Schubert: Die schoene MuellerinBerlioz: Les Nuits d'Ete;  L'Enfance du Christ; La mort d'Ophelie
Verdi REQUIEMMussorgsky  SONGS AND DANCES OF DEATH
Fauré REQUIEMMahler:  Fourth Symphony; DAS LIED VON DER ERDE
Rachmaninoff: All-Night Vespers (Opus 37)Prokofiev: ALEXANDER NEVSKY
R. Strauss FOUR LAST SONGS
Barber: Knoxville, Summer of 1915 (agree with Angelo: the Steber and Price recordings especially)
Many songs by Dowland, Purcell, Schubert,  Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Duparc, R. Strauss, Britten
Funny to note composers whom I love for either their operatic or their instrumental works (or both) but who are *not* on this list, though each wrote some creditable non-operatic vocal works: Monteverdi, Mozart, Dvorak, Berg, Bartok...

Unfavorite 'major' vocal works:
Brahms REQUIEM ( save for the vocal soli)Orff CARMINA BURANA
