text/plain (25 lines)

Well, a tenor who thinks himself ready for a career because he has figured
out how to sing brilliant high notes. The phrasing is quite crude -- he has
not worked on how to make the breath support an elegant ending to a line, so
it just sort of choppily stops -- and there is no real legato here at all.
Biggest problem is that he needs to relax the tone. It's all quite pressed
-- listen to his inability to modulate at 'o sogni d'or'. And he needs to
learn how to pronounce words that begin with 'gia-' in Italian. He could be
made into a fine singer, but he is not one now. And with the pressures of
making a career today he will probably just sing louder and more pressed
until he can't sing anymore.
