Another thing to be said in this discussion is that when every remark or
action that might plausibly be taken as sexually suggestive (or racist,
sexist, etc.) is automatically and without question taken to be so, it isn't
only the wrongly accused who suffer, but other members of the supposedly
insulted or abused community, who learn to suspect abuse and disrespect
under every rock, who come to believe they live in a fundamentally hostile
world, who learn never to trust outside of smaller and smaller communities
of victimhood. That only makes recovery tougher for the many, many true
victims, while ironically creating false victims, who believing themselves
victims suffer as such.

But of course as Max Paley citing Dostoevsky noted, there are also people -
or perhaps it's more accurate to say there is a side to all of us -
who/which love/s to feel offended, love to feel victimized, the better to
feel pure and righteous. None of us is pure and righteous.
