Originally planned as a 5-CD set of unpublished recordings by the great Russian tenor,
Georgy Vinogradov the set, in the final stages of sound restoration has undergone a few
changes since I first learned of it. The tapes of some tracks, planned to be included, had
been demagnetized (eg.The opening tack of CD1 - Bayan's first song from Glinka's
"Ruslan and Lyudmila). Luckily, there are enough previously-unpublished items, with
Vinogradov, in the GTRF archives. One of these is a complete recording of Cui's opera-
fairytale "Puss in Boots" which was recorded with the forces of All-Union Radio in 1948
(Cui's "Ivan the Fool" was also recorded for broadcast around this time and also still
exists. This will be the first historical performance of one of Cui's opera's to be released.
The set, due to be released in the early Spring.
