"There are some American companies nominated [by OperaAwards] but don't see the Met
anywhere."

The Met was on the nominations list for Best Company in 2014. It also won for World
Premiere in 2017 ("L'amour de loin") and was nominated for: Chorus (2016, 2015 and 2014),
New Production (Prince Igor 2015), and Anniversary Production - Wagner (2014, Parsifal).

Thank you for referencing that site. It was very interesting looking at current and past
nominations/awards, which appear to rotate from year to year between different companies.
American companies are regularly nominated or win in a wide variety of categories. In terms
of the awards and nominations, the Met and other U.S. companies certainly appear to be
competitive with the best Europe has to offer.

One company notably missing from the lists is the Bastille Opera. As far as I can tell, it has
not been nominated in a single category. Has it fallen on hard times? How is it regarded in
Europe? Plenty of other French companies nominated and winning, but no Bastille. Perhaps
Mr. Cadenhead can enlighten us, as he is on the scene.

Charlie
