I thought the performance tonight went very well. Grigolo was an animated
and exciting singer and Yoncheva sang beautifully and also very
dramatically. I sometimes heard a bit of Callas's inflections and
timbre-especially in her lower register. Lucic was the weakest link in the
performance. Villaume did a fine job and the orchestra was wonderful.
Grigolo really should tone down his curtain call antics.
