From the vantage point of a non-musician lurker, I prefer a 2-post-a-day limit; in my experience with lots of other listservs, a limit encourages people to send thoughtful, considered, complete postings. It also may encourage more people to post.

Thanks to all of you for your expertise and passion; I learn a lot from this list. JH

"The limit of 2 posts a day is unnecessary!"

Agreed. It does have the salutary effect of limiting the drivel from a few of the garrulous bores around here. But, conversely it limits the possible contributions from the interesting, insightful and articulate, so perhaps it should be broomed, at least temporarily, as an experiment. If things get out of hand, the two-post limit can be re-imposed. Maybe raise the limit to three for a start?

What says the Moderator?

"Oh, the day will come, I know,
when our hearts aflame
will burn your paper chains!
Warn the [Moderator], Secretary, warn him.
That day neither ink nor seal
shall cage our souls,
That day will come!"

Menotti, "The Consul," Act II.
