 Hi Tom
As I recall from reading about it, it was Serafin's having conducted the *Scala* TRAVIATA recording with Stella joining  Callas' frequent colleagues di Stefano and Gobbi that led to her freezing the conductor out for several years. But Angel had no choice: she had recorded TRAVIATA for Cetra.
As for Garanca and JDF's colleagues in the 2008 Vienna Xmas concert: Genia Kühmeier has sung many  lyric roles (Zdenka, Pamina, Micaela, Ilia, Marzelline etc)  at the Wiener Staatsoper. Her career has been blighted by family health problems but she's a very good singer. She sang two Met Paminas in 2007. Paul Arnim Edelmann is one of two baritone sons of Otto Edelmann, the internationally active/famous Sachs and Ochs at the Met 1954-76. Paul Arnim Edelmann  sings operetta, including at the Volksoper and recitals in addition to opera his only Staatsoper role is Papageno-- which he did for San Diego Opera too, about a dozen years ago.
Best- David
