The Milan AC sounds pretty horrible; the Teatro Colon AC, which we attended
on Sunday, was well sung and acted and the audience was most appreciative,
with no booing at all.
The production is a conservative's dream--certainly no new insights--but
part of that is due to the last minute withdrawal of the original director.
It all worked, but it was boring. The singers did what they could do to
make the evening soar and in large part managed to rescue the staging.
