Dear Listers,

I totally agree with Angelo Mammano’s post. What concerns me most about this awful
Levine mess is the distinct possibility that the Turd-in-Chief over at the “Braun Haus” will
use it as ammunition in his ongoing war against the LGBT community and against the arts in
general, in particular our beloved opera, thereby poisoning Americans’ minds about the arts
and opera even more than they already are.

Cheers and all the best,

Alain Letort

There is a big difference between opera, the entertainment industry
and the government. Most people feel that they need to be entertained
and need at least some from of government. Democrats want just enough
while many Republicans want very little. Most Americans don't care very
much for opera and to draw more audiences opera management needs
to be at least on the surface free from scandal. If the Met were to close
tomorrow it would be forgotten in a very short time by the majority of our
fellow citizens.
