I agree with Tom about the over-reaction. I took Bruce's message as something the Met now has to consider for any one about to inherit a high profile position, that will be include HD presentations etc. which will put them in  the spotlight, and that the Met should be ready to investigate where needed and not ignore things like they did with Levine, under the assumption that one of the reasons they did so, was because of Levine's elevated stature, talent, media attention etc.  His unfortunate choice of saying he was "out" was misguided, but anything the Met can do to ensure a tragedy like this current one can be averted.  Could the company survive another one?

I do think that perhaps you and Jon  are overacting to Bruce's post. Just because he thinks the Met should thoroughly vet a Gay man for Levine's job does not necessarily mean he is homophobic. I happen to be Gay but can understand Bruce's position. The Met or any business today will be extremely careful about the sexual behavior, past and present, of Any future employee. Sad, but True.
