The other day I heard excerpts of a 1952 recording of Barbiere with Victoria de los Angeles and Gino Bechi. I first heard her voice on this recording many year ago and thought it was the most beautiful female voice I ever heard, till then, as I was just beginning to listen to operatic voices. What a joy to hear that Rosina again which confirmed my first impression. She is a pure joy as Rosina and glorious sounding throughout the role range, despite not interpolating extra high notes, as Sills and Peters did.

Callas Gobbi Barbiere
A very interesting video of Barbiere is contralto Ewa Poodles.
