Verdi provided totally forgettable ballet music for
several of his most famous operas, which, unlike the
Saint-Saens Bacchanale, is usually omitted when
those operas are performed.  Dance of the Hours might
be described as circus music too, but who would want
to hear GIOCONDA without it?
