Vincent's funeral will be tomorrow Tues. Oct. 17 at St. Patrick's on 5th Ave, NYC. My information is that there will be a tribute with full orchestra and audience participation in excerpts from the Verdi Requiem and also Va Pensiero. Be there 9:30 with your music if you'd like to sing.

Vincent La Selva's knowledge of opera was encylopedic, from the big picture down to the smallest details. His conducting was both exact and expressive. I have seen 100 conductors at the Met - IMO he ranks with the best. So many stories. He ran the opera with scraps of paper all over his desk and in his pockets. His force of personality was huge. Those that got to perform with him were lucky people. He brought opera to thousands. People would walk by an outdoor performance or rehearsal, stop and watch, riveted. The Grand Opera may start again, but no one can replace him. Bravo, Maestro. We love you.
