It's silly to believe that calling an artist by his/her first name is somehow disrespectful.

We use names to identify and an unusual name like, say "Leontyne," is immediately identifiable. "Price," however can refer to a number of people.

In fact, in the art history word, it has become standard to call artists by their first names-- Leonardo for DaVinci, etc.

Isn't it amazing how life just goes fine when you don't let minuscule things become important.
