Well, I just talked with Vincenzo this morning (we communicate regularly via Ouija board), 
and he told me that he was sticking with "Norma" because he had a favorite aunt with that 
name.  He said if someone wasn't happy with that, they could take it up with Soumet.

I suppose some enterprising director could rename the opera "Norma Jean" and make the 
heroine into a kind of Marilyn Monroe character.  Pollione could be JFK.  Don't know who 
Adalgisa would be.  Any suggestions?
