Did anyone else attend the premiere of Susan Froemke's documentary about
the building of Lincoln Center and about the Met in particular? It was at
the Opera House on Sunday as part of the Film Society of Lincoln Center.

It is a fascinating two hours, with many interviews, archival footage
(Eisenhower at the ground-breaking ceremony with Bernstein, et al, the Last
Night at the Old Met, interviews with Bing, Krawitz, and lots of Leontyne
Price, on the cusp of her 90th, insightful and funny.) Also Franco
Zefferelli rehearsing Antony, Robert Moses, and a photo that included the
key architects, including Philip Johnson and Mies van der Rohe, as well as
the Met's Wallace Harrison. He had been ruminating about a new opera house
for years and they showed a number of his designs. Justino Diaz is
interviewed as well as some people whose family were displaced by this
urban renewal project. Don't miss it......

Mike
