"Just for the record, Sills only sang in “Mefistofele” once, a three-performance run as Helen of
Troy at San Francisco Opera in September and October, 1953. She never sang it with Treigle."

And just to complicate the record a tad, the three performance run of "Mefistofele" was FOR
San Francisco Opera, but only two of the performances were actually in San Francisco, the
third having taken place in Los Angeles, and nearly a month after the second (the last in San
Francisco being September 20, 1953 with the L.A. performance on October 19th).

The Mefistofele may not have been Triegle, but Nicola Rossi-Lemeni was no slouch. Faust was,
of course, Jan Peerce, and Margarita, Licia Albanese, with Fausto Cleva waving the stick.
