IMO - while he was quite effective at his attempts to imitate DelMonaco 
& Corelli, opera's "big boys", he gave too much.  Yes, he was exciting, 
but he burned out rather quickly - try to listen to his Calaf & Mr. 
Johnson. While hair-raising, he must have ruptured his vocal cords - 
poverino.
