New York's reconstituted NYC Opera has promised on gay-themed opera each season in June.  Next summer, Brokeback Mountain.

Britten's Death in Venice and Wallace's Harvey Milk, par example. Britten's other  operas, like The  Turn of the Screw are a bit more ambiguous.
