     Thanks so much for sharing this with us.  What a review!   I am not at all surprised at Kaufmann's success.  Capricious he may be, cancellation-happy he may also be.  His Met career may be over (his decision), and he probably couldn't care less.  He's at the peak of his profession and can call the shots.  He's a sell-out anywhere he chooses to appear.  How many singers in the past held these kind of cards?

Caruso, Flagstad, Melchior, Callas, Toscanini, Pavarotti, Sutherland, Horne?    Rare is the opera singer who can sell a house out on the strength of their name.  Kaufmann is certainly one of them.  If there's a person who would turn down a ticket to hear and see him, there are ten more who would grab the opportunity.

     He is definitely this generation's "divo".

     I'm sure this Otello will be available on DVD.  I can't wait.
