Oh no, Jon, we are in complete agreement. Parody can work extremely well, but only if well 
crafted, as you say. But events tend to raise the bar. Alec Baldwin was hilarious in those 
earlier sketches, as was Melissa McCarthy, but both faced the law of diminishing returns. 
Certainly not because they became less polished. Not just because the writing got less 
good. But because events overtook them, moving into areas where the parody simply could 
not keep up. It would take absolute brilliance to skewer the Situation now. And, for all the 
reasons you and others have mentioned, this sophomoric compilation was not brilliant.
