I have seen references to Gianni Schicchi as being a lawyer, although he may be just a scheming character. I have also seen the notary in Gianni Schicchi called a lawyer.

From Rinuccio's aria:

He's smart and keen-eyed

He knows the law

And all the tricks

That lawyers practice.

Always good-humored, and full of fun !

At all parties, when looking for some jest

'Tis Gianni Schicchi who finds the best!
