Actually, everyone else sang in Italian, the language the Met performed the opera in from 
its Met premiere in 1913 until its 116th Met performance in 1947! Alexander Kipnis also sang 
in Russian in some of those otherwise Italian performances.

Chaliapin did the same thing at Covent Garden, and there's a 1928 recording of excerpts, 
available on

New Orleans Opera did Boris, unfortunately before my (operatic) time with Christoff in 
Russian and everyone else in English.
