A note to those of us who cannot resist listening to famous singers when
things go wrong (I'm the first to confess this compulsion), do not miss the
link Walter Guitian gave yesterday to Crespin's 1962 'Aida'. Not only are
there multiple crash and burn vocal moments, but places where she does not
seem to know the notes. How did she get through the rehearsal? And Vickers
does not sound exactly happy either. Afterwards the two of them must have
run as fast as they could to Sieglinde and Siegmund.
