The headline in the New York TImes today read: "How To Fix The ;Met:
Connect Art To Life"

The summary on the mobile app was "The Metropolitan Museum of Art must
start by mixing things up -- periods, functions, cultures. It also must
hire a more diverse staff, and react to the times."

Well there it is -- pure and simple. The answer.

Well, ok, it was about the Metropolitan Museum of Art and not the Met Opera
-- however the same problems and solutions apply to the Met Opera. But
unlike the paper's art critics, I seriously doubt the Times music critics
have the necessary honesty, self-awareness, knowledge or courage to write a
like article.
