>(Milanov) sang Toscanini and Turandot in Buenos Aires in 1941.

Very few people know it, since Ricordi blocked any future performances
after those first ones in Buenos Aires. but "Toscanini" is an opera
written by Franco Alfano shortly after the premiere of "Turandot." In it
Turanadot, who has died for some unknown reason, comes back to life and
has Toscanini beheaded. Alfano thought it was fitting to have his head
cut off, since Toscanini loved cutting things so much.
