Opera Theatre of Montclair had a delightful time performing WAGNER IN-YOUR-FACE! at the exquisite home of Brian and Christina Cattell in Montclair last month. Brian and Christina generously hosted and catered the reception. In addition, Brian also took on the duty of narrating the event using his expert knowledge and love of Wagner as well as his witty delivery! We had so much fun that we are seriously considering turning this into our very own yearly Wagner Festival (Bayreuth comes to Montclair!). Thank you Brian and Christina! xoxo

Clockwise from top: Brian and Christina Cattell; Mia Riker-Norrie, soprano, and David Norrie; Steven Fredericks, bass, and Julia Rolwing, soprano; Joyce Korotkin, set designer; Anita Lyons, soprano.
OTM NEEDS YOUR HELP! PLEASE consider a donation to Opera Theatre of Montclair. Your donation is fully tax-deductible. OTM has very ambitious plans for 2017.
* A series of master classes presented by international artists for the benefit of local singers.
* Intimate Concerts in private homes and public venues.
* OTM's unique interactive outreach production of Mozart's The Magic Flute will continue to be performed in venues such as schools and libraries throughout North Jersey. Many of these performances are done for free as a community service to introduce young audiences to opera.
* A summer opera outdoors with orchestra in the gardens of Van Vleck House thanks in part to a grant from The Montclair Foundation.
* In September 2017, OTM will present Rossini's La Cenerentola (Cinderella), double cast, with orchestra, sung in the original Italian with English supertitles in the acoustically excellent Assembly Hall at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Montclair. This full mainstage production will be staged by Nicholas Tamagna with set design by Joyce Korotkin and will be set in the lavish 1920s.

Did you know that many opera companies DO NOT pay their artists? Singers who have spent much of their lives studying their craft, many times investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans on degrees from the most prestigious conservatories, are often expected to PAY an audition fee, pay to travel to an audition and then many times to actually PAY TO SING! Very often, companies will accept an audition fee, then not even grant the singer an audition. OTM considers these practices unethical but needs YOUR help to keep producing local opera. We want to continue to give our artists a venue and our audiences the unique experience of opera-up-close.

OTM's performance budget for 2017 is $40,000 - this is a meagre fraction of the budget of the largest opera organization in New York City. Your donation to OTM will go VERY FAR.

ANOTHER WAY you can support OTM is by hosting a fundraising concert or even a fully-staged opera at your home, business or other venue. Please contact Mia Riker-Norrie at [log in to unmask] or 973-202-7849 to discuss any of these options.

Please mail your check to Opera Theatre of Montclair, 32 Cloverhill Place, Montclair, NJ 07042. Or CLICK HERE ([UNIQID]) to donate via credit card.
Opera Theatre of Montclair wishes to thank several recent generous donors.
