For me, Parsifal inhabited essentially the same emotional 
sound world as the beginning of act 3 of tristan. Endless, 
unremitting ache of loss and hopelessness.  But 
magnetic as all getout. I would be in a blue funk for days 
after hearing it.  I have gotten past that fairly recently, 
thankfully.
