YES! YES!, the correct language for Don Carlos is 
FRENCH, regardless of versions. Should be the same for 
Les Vespres Siciliennes and, when it is done, 
Jerusalemme.  The problem is that getting singers to 
relearn a part in french would be based on whether it is 
worth the effort from a remuneration perspective, to 
expend the effort.  How many performances will result 
where it can be sung that way.  Then there also is what 
appears to be the Muti rule "all Verdi must be performed 
in Italian, regardless".
