Very sad news. I learned so much from Robert, both from his posts and from
private exchanges. Anyone who loves opera owes him a huge debt of gratitude.

We all share in your loss. May his memory be for a blessing.

Subject: R.I.P. Robert White

Robert died last night after a brief illness. He was an extraordinary
contributor to this forum and his participation will be greatly missed. Bob
went around the world in his passion for opera, but the Met was his special
temple. He enjoyed an outstanding career as a librarian and computer
specialist. He carved a special niche for himself with his insightful
analysis of the Metropolitan broadcasts on Sirius Radio. Bob was a close
friend of mine for more than fifty years. His death is an overwhelming loss
for me and for all who knew him.
Bob, God bless.
