Labo did a single disc aria recital for Decca but nothing else, and only
otherwise recorded for DG (Don Carlo). Sounds like he wasn't interesting
enough or the "test drive" wasn't successful enough to go further. In the
Decca stable around 1954 otherwise were Poggi (used in the Traviata and
then Favorita) and earlier, Prandelli (1951 Boheme) and Campora (1951
Tosca), But Prandelli started recording for EMI (Mefistofele) and Tabarro,
but had to compete with DiStefano's apparent lock on the non-Gedda tenor
repertory though he did continue to do performances at the Met and with
Tebaldi. Campora seemed to just disappear from recordings. DelMonaco
must have had a "first dibs" on everything in Italian contract with Decca.
