As in any 12-step program, acknowledging that one has a problem, and recognizing what
the problem really is, is the first step in recovery.

Blaming anyone other than the candidate for a loss is not only silly, it is a type of denial. It
is the candidate's responsibility - and ONLY the candidate's - to convince enough people to
vote for him or her so that he or she can win.

Hillary Clinton lost the election because she was Hillary Clinton. She was a lousy candidate
with limited political skills and personal appeal and more ethical baggage than any
Presidential candidate in living memory. Being the poster child for the elite political class,
she was the wrong candidate for a "change" election, which is why she did so poorly against
a banal, uncharismatic, superannuated socialist like Bernie Sanders (the only honest person
in this election cycle).

Re the popular vote v. the electoral count - I am glad that Clinton's supporters have
something with which to console themselves, even if it is politically irrelevant. The United
States is not, and has never been, a democracy; it is a democratic republic, which is quite a
different thing.
