Bjørling was a Swede from Borlänge in Dalarna county (and therefore hardly a latin singer); Swedish pronunciation is very close to German.

"- Villazon - enunciating German perfectly"

Villazon is Swiss (and thus despite his surname not a latin singer either) and German is one of four (!) Swiss official languages. Hardly surprising that he has more than an inkling of how German is to be pronounced.

Giorgio Tozzi sang Daland in perfect German.
