Yes...welcome to Los Angeles...if you're traveling to L.A. to experience opera at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion which is located in an urban blighted section of the city...I don't think you would be comfortable staying at a hotel near "Bunker Hill" where the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is located.

...if you did that...and wanted to be in "walking distance" to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and as you trudged up Bunker Hill from your hotel in downtown L.A. for a performance...try not to complain about having to step over the legions of the "homeless" that have decampted there!

...for forGod sake...don't make comparisons of the Dorothy Chandler Paviiion with those at Lincoln Center...with its cheap finishings... is amazing that L.A. local forces even managed to build that Dorothy Chander Pavilion...for years and had to put up with that 6,000 seat Shriner Auditorium as a sometime venue for opera...and there was no local opera company at the time and the San Francisco Opera set up shop there for a few days at the close of their San Franciso season.
