Dorothy Kirsten was born in 1910. It was one of the best kept secrets in
Opera and was not divulged until her death. People were more amazed
because that meant her last Tosca's at the Met were done when she was 69 years
old! She was my first Tosca, Butterfly and Manon Lescaut. She was amazing.
She was singing all roles through the 70's - when she was in her 60's.
