Hempel recorded the aria 3 times in 1911, including an unpublished version.
Marcella Sembrich did the same stunt as well.

The beauty of the Heim recording is the immediacy despite it being a 1913
recording and also the speed for those who like it, though as Art pointed out,
it is pitched a step high. None-the-less, this is the first time the Heim version
has been put on the internet, or in electronic form, the record itself was
brought in from Germany by a collector/friend for the purpose of mastering it
for a cd project I was working on but never completed. He has the only
known copy to my knowledge.

Idia...I sent you a link via e-mail. Once again, unfortunately these long links
do not completely automate and you have to copy the entire thing and place
it in your browser search bar. Otherwise, if you do a google search for Music
Antiquarian Blog the site comes up.

Melitta has had nearly 500 hits since this morning....she hasn't been this
popular in years!
