Some of you will find me crazy yet again, but the most tender phrases
I have ever heard in opera came from Tito Gobbi in Simon Boccanegra.
The father/daughter duet is breathtaking, heartbreaking, ending with that
incredible "figlia".  Later,  the lines in the Council Chamber scene, "E vo
gridando, pace, e vo gridando amor" takes "tender" to a new level.
 Remarkable
for a man known as a declamatory villain, most of the time.
