A little background.....Rudolf Bandler, the earliest of the group was a
practicing Jew, arguably the greatest Beckmesser of his generation, was
allowed to sing at the Vienna Hofoper/Staatsoper, or Bayreuth due to his
beliefs...he was a great talent of the Volksoper and later transferred and
murdered by the Germans in a Polish ghetto during the War.

 Bill quite a bold statement:
1. I know of nobody who was refused to sing at Bayreuth
or the Vienna State opera because of his beliefs except for the nazi period.
 2. Moreover according to my reliable sources Bandler did sing at the Vienna
Court Opera and he definetely also sang at
the Vienna State opera. He also had quite a career at the German opera in
3. He's also featured on a Preiser CD
Bandler was transferred from Prague to Litzmannstadt in the autumn of 1941.
still gave several concerts at Litzmannstadt. The Lodz ghetto encyclopedia
says his
'weiteres Schicksal unbekannt'. The Jewish Museum in Prague says he died in
the ghetto but they too don't give the cause of death. So he either most
probably died of
the bad conditions in the ghetto or was put on transport to one of the
death camps in 1944 both for
which the nazi thugs were responsible.
