I regret to report the death of Spanish tenor JUAN ONCINA.
He was born in Barcelona 15 April 1921 and died in Barcelona on 29 December
2009. He was 88 years old.

Oncina was married to the soprano TATIANA MENOTTI (Boston 24 June 1909-
Barcelona 3 October 2001) and enjoyed a distinguished career during the '50s
and '60s of XX century, as "tenore lirico". His voice can be appreciated in
several recordings, such as "Un giorno di regno" and "Semiramide" but, best of
all, in the complete recording of "Don Pasquale" for Decca (1965) with Graziella
Sciutti and Fernando Corena. He is also an enjoyable Maurizio in the live
recording of "Adriana Lecouvreur" at the King's Theatre (Edinburgh, 1963) with
Magda Olivero and Sesto Bruscantini.
