Good afternoon. To follow up on my note from earlier today regarding Maestro Keenan conducting last nights performance of Das Rheingold at the Met, I have since learned that I was misinformed about his knowing that he might go on last night a few days ago. He was in fact unaware until 15 minutes before the performance began last night that Maestro Levine was not feeling well and that he would be conducting. In addition, due to the cast changes in The Ring over the past few weeks there were a few singers that Maestro Keenan had not had the opportunity to work with prior to last nights performance as he was already involved in Götterdämmerung rehearsals at that point.
My apologies for any misinformation in my earlier post, but ultimately I think it speaks even more highly of Maestro Keenan's work last night.
