As Jon Conrad speculates, it is indeed very likely that Richter "helped" with 
the harp parts of Meistersinger, he was a genius of the orchestra and played 
almost every instrument.   E ben trovato.   At one of the Wagner rehearsals, a 
member of the the orchestra complained that the part was unplayable, whereas 
Richter picked up the member's instrument and played the "unplayable" passage.
