So hard to believe that vital, sharp woman and that phenomenal talent is
gone from us.

I always enjoyed reading what she had to say, and her being a fascinating
interview subject.

My favorite recording of hers is the Solti Elektra: no other Elektra tackles
the music so serenely (meaning without strain and TROUBLE), or with such
relish.  Se made it sound easy because she had such knowledge of how her
voice worked.

I'm so glad the Orange Tristan and Isolde DVD was released, sound problems
and all: her Isolde, capped by that magisterial "Liebestod," was a luxury
experience.
