The late, much-lamented Lucia Popp recorded the heroine's decisive aria from the
Goetz, "Die Kraft versagt" , with Kurt Eichhorn and the Munich Philharmonic on a
grab-bag aria recital, much of it lovely, reissued cheaply as Arts Music 475172
about five years ago.

Popp could transfigure almost anything, but it 's certainly a very pleasant aria, and
well orchestrated (as per the Shaw endorsement Jon Alan Conrad mentioned).
