Dear Listers,

Those of you in the San Francisco, CA Area may wish to mark your calendars
for April 24 - 2:00 p.m.

Wagner Society of Northern California presents:
Wilhelm Furtwaengler - Conducting in America
Dan Oppermann, Guest Speaker
Chancellor's Board Room
Laurel Heights Conference Center
3333 California Street
San Francisco, CA

Non-members $10 suggested donation, FREE to Wagner Society N.Cal. Members

Here's a talk that might interest those who are admirers of Wilhelm
Furtwaengler - clearly one of the greatest conductors of the 20th Century.

Dan Oppermann, is not a musical professional but IS one of the growing body
of life-long Furtwaengler Fans. Oppermann has extensively researched and
published on this little-know period of Furtwaengler's career. Furtwaengler toured
thoughout the U.S. with the NY Phil to rapturous acclaim during the 1920's
and this will be the focus of the talk along with some highlights of
Furtwaengler's enormous career in Europe. Oppermann has promised to play a wide
assortment of musical examples of the Maestro's work - with Wagner's music prominently

Coming June 19th: Opera-L'er Bill Fregosi will talk on *Parsifal, the East
and Post Modernism* I'm a big fan of Fregosi's posts here. Local
Opera-L'ers won't want to miss what is certain to be an exciting talk and the
opportunity to meet Bill in real time.

Thanks for your attention,
Terri Stuart, Treasurer & Program Coordinator
Wagner Society of Northern California
San Francisco, CA
